He was the son of Ambrose W. & Temperance Carmer all buried at G.A.R. cemetery. Everett Daily Herald 12/22/1930 page 1 BLOWS FATAL TO THURMAN CARMEN MONDAY EVENING Thurman Carmen, 40, former Snohomish musician, is dead from a cerebral hemorrhage, and his wife Eliza Carmen 38, and Luther Neadeau, 43, are held at the Snohomish County jail on open charges as the result of an alleged quarrel at the home of Mrs. Nina E. Patterson, Neadeau's mother, in Monroe Monday evening. A signed statement n which he admitted striking Carmen n the face twice with his fists, was given Deputy Prosecutor F.W. Mansfield, Prosecutor Charles R. Denney and Deputy Sheriff J.W. Thomas Tuesday morning, the officials said. According to the stories told county officers by Mrs. Pattison, Neadeau and Mrs. Carmen, Carmen came to the Pattionson place about noon Monday and quarreled with his wife. The Carmen's had been staying at the Pattison place for about two months. Mrs. Pattison declared the authorities reported that Carmen was intoxicated when he came to the house and that he quarreled with his wife, striking her. At the height of the quarrel, she is quoted as say! ing he went to the kitchen and got a knife the two Everett Daily Herald page two Women running out of the house followed by Carmen, but without the knife. Mrs. Pattison returned to the house and Carmen went away with his wife. The officers were told that Mrs. Pattison returned later in the afternoon and went to bed. In the statement signed by Neadeau, he declared that he returned home about 7 o'clock and was told of the day's events by his mother. A short time after he arrived, there was a knock on the door which his mother answered. Neadeau is quoted as saying she screamed "that man is back here again" and Carmen said something about killing, Neadeau declared. Neadeau, the officers say, related he leaped to the door, striking Carmen, who had advanced one or two steps, with his right had. His statement is said to show that the man struck back, but missed and Neadeau hit with his left, Carmen collapsing on the floor. Neadeau asserted, the authorities report, that he did not believe Carmen's head struck the floor or on a box nearby. He also said to have to! ld the officers that he pulled the man into the room an when he say that he was hurt badly, went for a doctor. Neadeau exhibiting a pair of swollen fists told Mansfield and Denney the officials stated, that he had no knowledge of whether Carmen was armed or not and struck to protect himself and his mother.
