    3. I'm chasing down my husband's gg-aunt, who moved around a lot - ok, didn't they all? Mary Ann Dougherty. She came to Puget Sound with her brothers John Francis and Bernard J. Dougherty. I'm not quite sure when they came to the area - it would have been between 1880, when she was in the census in Dubuque, Iowa, and October 1883 when John Francis Dougherty got married in Seattle and she was not a witness. Bernard Dougherty and Mary Barry were. (Mary & John Barry witnessed several early King County marriages). John Francis got married in Seattle, but there is no record of Mary Ann in the early King County marriages. When he got married, he was "John Dougherty of Island County". He was the bookkeeper at the sawmill at Utsaladdy at the far north of Camano Island. Bernard Dougherty was also at Utsaladdy. Mary Ann married a butcher named Henry T. Murray / Murry. So I would guess that she met Henry Murray at Utsaladdy, or wherever the nearest Catholic church was located. Mary Ann and Henry Murray were in Douglas County for the 1885 territorial census. Then they were in Whatcom County for a daughter's birth, 31 Jul 1891. I have John Francis and Bernard from birth to death - I'd like to have the same records for Mary Ann - and finding living cousins would be a real bonus. Diane Hettrick dhettrick@earthlink.net
