I have a picture of Axel and Mabel, they were first cousins, did you know? I went to her funeral a few years ago and saw Jack and his sister Betty, Mabel and 2nd husband Ray Elp adopted her. Always wondered if it may have been an "family" adoption, perhaps the child of an unmarried family member ? I do not remember if you told me about George, but just today I found Indiana and Johns wedding date in 1897, so that means she had 3 children, Margit, George and Dora/Tora(listed as Tora in census) before she married John. i am 99% sure the source is correct. In 1900 they were listed on the census as living in Kristiania,Norway now Oslo, with 4 children and in 1905 she traveled with the children from Norway to join John in Montana. I would appreciate any help you could provide in my quest to find the living descendents thanks so much for your help Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: W_Colberg Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.snohomish/5223.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I went to the Everett Public Library looking for an obituary, starting on 4 Jun thru 18 Jun, and I could not find one for a Loomis. I then went to the Snohomish County records and picked up a certificate of death, which contains the following information. Casey Vaughn Loomis, b. 10 Oct 1896 North Dakota, d. 4 Jun 1973 Everett General Hospital, Everett, Washington. His usual occupation was Plant Superintendent, Evergreen Frozen Foods. He lived at 1009 Cole Avenue, Snohomish, Washington. Father Wilbur Loomis, mother Nellie Bleanche Vaughn, wife Lilyan Loomis (maiden name Lilyan Caldwell) Death was caused if I read this correctly was a ruptured aorta or something like that. If you want the certificate of death let me know and I will mail it to you, no obligation. In box for burial it says cremation, 7 Jun 1973. I called Purdy and Dawson that used to be in Snohomish and found out they moved to Monroe, Washington, to find out if he was placed in a cemetery somewhere. I just got a call back from Purdy and Dawson in Monroe. He said the records indicate that he wanted his remains scattered at sea. His son Michael and his wife asked the 13th Naval District Command in Seattle that his remains be scattered at sea and on 18 Jun aboard the USS Southerland his wish was carried out. Hope this helps Bill Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [WASNOHOM] May's Pond Neighborhood in South Snohomish County, WA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: sdagna1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.snohomish/5224/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the history of our neighborhood and would appreciate any information anyone can contribute. The area was developed in the 1970's by Boise Cascade, and many of the homes(including mine) are located on land that was owned by James M. May and his family, and part of the agreement he and Boise Cascade made was that the part of the development nearest his home would be named for him and a park built for the neighborhood to enjoy. As I understand it the land was used for agriculture and the area surrounding where the duck pond is located today was all marsh and served as a cattle tank where livestock drank. Boise Cascade filled in most of the marsh and created the shallow pond and drainage culvert & ditch system to channel run-off from the streets and homes they built here. When we purchased our home 4 years ago Mr. May's enormous home was still sitting on the hill overlooking the pond, but was later torn down and the last five acres cleared for high population density housing. I am trying to research the area and would appreciate any information or old photos or maps anyone may have and be willing to share. Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to share. (See: James M. May, 92, of Bothell, died Dec., 19, 1979. Mr. May was born 10-24-1887, in Joplin, Mo., and came to Bothell area in the early 1940's from Burns, Oregon. The May's Pond area was named after him on land he formerly owned. He was a member of Bothell First Baptist Church.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: hereigoagain_66 Surnames: Wood Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.snohomish/5222.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm sorry for lacking the right information. I'm not very good at this, probably why I haven't found her. Been looking off/on for over 20 years now. 3 deployments to the Middle East and 26 years has made a few of the details hard to remember. Angela lived with her Mother in 1981-1982 in Seattle, WA, was 16 years old then. I can't remember her birth date, but she said she was born in California. Moved in 1983 to live with her Father. Not married as far as I know of. I don't know her siblings names, I never met them. I can't remember her Mothers last name, I think her first name is Cathy or Kathy. Her Mother didn't keep the name Wood, it was different. Father is Thomas C. Wood, 61, still lives in Monroe, WA. Phone number is unlisted. Step Mother is Joan M. Wood, 55. Found a Grandmother? Eugena W. Wood, 101. Not sure if she is still living or not. Other relatives are: Katherine E. Wood, Edwin T. Wood, not sure if they are bother/sister or aunt/uncle to her though. Aunt and Uncle were Maude and Louis Brookshire from Seattle, both deceased. I am in Kentucky, been here since 1986. I knew her from Seattle when I was 16, We were first loves. I still carry those feelings for her, always have. She gave me a bible before she left that belonged to her Uncle Louie (Louis Brookshire) and wrote in it, "To Norm from Angela, November 29, 1982". We were forced to be apart. We kept in touch best we could, but her Father finally just told her she couldn't be in contact with me any longer. Crushing isn't the word. But I went into the Army in 1985 and my life changed in 1986 when my Father died. I was lost even further. But I never gave up thinking of her, and now I'm 42, been back and forth and in and out of combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, made it home alive. I need to tell her why things happened the way they did. Why I never came back to find her in Washington. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about her. I sleep with that bible next to me, it has her handwriting in it, the only material memory I have left of her. Good ! or bad, I need to do something with this chapter of my life. I still have this bible and is probably the most important thinmg I own. Does that better explain things? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. When you post an inquiry, you MUST identify some basics on the person, their date of birth, place of birth, or if not known general information such as age when you last knew them, year of high school graduation, etc. The names of siblings etc. are also important. This person could have been born over 20 years ago to 50 years ago. ANYTHING specific about the person is helpful, their individual traits, such as enjoyed jewelry, photography, isn't of value in genealogy research. But, from your other postings: Thomas C. Wood was the father Louis/Louie and Maude Brookshire, uncle/aunt She lived with her mom in 1981-1982, Cathy?/Kathy? ---Was this person married, do you know her new name? Moved to Monroe in 1983 to live with her Dad --how old was she? 3 or 23? She had step brothers/sisters --What were their names? In the Social Security Death Index: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/vital/ssdi/main.htm or http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/fto_ssdisearch.html?Welcome=1041564390 I find a Louis Brookshire born 31 Oct 1905, died 31 July 1990 in Seattle. A Maude G. Brookshire, born 25 Sep 1904, died 21 Dec 1996 in Seattle, WA. You can check for the names of her parents in the above. Now, armed with their dates of death, you can request a copy of their obits: The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . An Obituary might give the name being used by Angela. Without knowing what additional information you have from these persons, or if you have done census work to find them up to the 1930 census, if you have already obtained obituaries or family trees... I can't help further without possibly just spending time obtaining what you already have. When you post, post what specific information you have and what specific information you need on an individual. Finding descendants of these person is possible; but expends a lot of time. It "appears" you have information, at least up to the 1950's. Ron Bestrom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They are, in fact, buried in the Harwood/Arlington Cemetery. You will come across them eventually. However, their son/brother Albert is my great-grandfather and I am having a very hard time locating him. Federal Census records of 1910 show him and his family in WA and then Idaho in 1920. I'm guessing he died somewhere between 1920 and 1929 when his wife, Eldora, died and was buried in Red Bluff, CA where they lived earlier. Her grave marker only indicates "Mother" leading me to believe she outlived him. If you can find him, I would greatly appreciate it.
