    3. Hello, As you might know, Burr's son Burrnerd Charles just died on July 9, 2009. His obit says he had three children and that his wife, Grace Stowers is sill alive - probably in Kent, WA. I can't tell if Edith or Trevitt/Treffitt had any children (other siblings to Burr son of Charles), or if he and Naomi Averill had any other children besides Burr..... This is what I found for 89-year-old Grace on superpages.com: Grace G Tupper home 11436 SE 208th St, Spc 89 Kent, WA 98031-4132 (253) 852-3165 Hope it helps... Author: RBestrom7380 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.snohomish/5260.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: First, the Washington Archives: http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/default.aspx has an image of the marriage certificate for the marriage of Charles W. Brazelton and Mary "Prutzenan", on 20 August 1902. Note the difference in spelling of the last name of Mary. They married in King County. He was living in Trafton (North and west of Arlington). She was from Chicago. They married in Ballard, WA, at the home of the John Morris. The 1900 Census shows Annie and CW living in Arlington, Snohomish County. They owned their home, so they were not transcient. She was born in Michigan, January 1867, married 8 years. Mother of three/all living. The oldest, "Claud" was born may 1893 in Washington. Although it doesn't show where in Washington, it appears they had been in the State at least 7 years. An index of Washington Deaths identifies: Annie Brazelton, died April 26, 1901, age 24. She was married. She died in the Everett Hospital of heart disease. She was born in Michigan, living in Trafton (north and west of Arlington), housewife, father's name (not identified), father born in England. Mothers maiden name (not identified, mother born in Canada Now, residency and death data established, for the obit: First, obits back in that time period were not as common as today, unless a person was rich, famous, infamous or had died to a newsworthy accident or homicide. A true obit was written by a reporter. Many family members did not want to pay for an in-depth notice for many reasons, cost, the member didn't live in the area long enough, people that would have known they died-probably did, etc. There could be a funeral notice, but it wasn't much more than an advertisement for the funeral home. The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . Depending on the amount of requests, it could take up to a couple of weeks. So, when you contact the library: Identify her name, the date of death of April 26, 1901, her husband's name. Identify they were residing in Trafton, WA. The librarians will use the newspaper microfilms. You can suggest the Arlington Times Call # 1899 Oct 28-1903 Oct 17. They might also check the Everett newspapers; but, unless they lived in Everett for a period of time, there might not be one there. 3. Hello, She was a VERY early settler in Snohomish County, one of the first. Since she was so well-known she could have an obituary that early. I would suggest writing to the Washington Secretary of State's office at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask_form.aspx I would ask them to look in the Snohomish Eye - the earliest Snohomish County paper. I'm not sure if the Herald was around that early. She may even have been mentioned in papers outside of the area - say in Port Townsend or Thurston County. Where are you located? Sometimes it is where the notification of death was sent to the Social Security Administration. Sometimes where a final payment (death payment) was sent to a living spouse or minor child. In 1982, it also could have been sent to a family member/spouse/attorney/funeral home, etc., that paid for a burial. The Washington Death Index is based on Death Certificates and would be more reliable. The SSDI is NOT a genealogy based data system, never intended to be one. Other records, County Auditor/Recorder, County Assessor would have more valuable residence information. His SSN was issued in Minnesota. --The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. 1. [WASNOHOM] O'BRIEN - PLUT Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Marie OBRIEN which was taken at the Barton Studio in Alexandria, South Dakota. The photograph is dated 1900 with Marie just an infant at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has also written "daughter of Mr. & Mrs. OBRIEN" and "Mrs. O B was formerly Miss Maud WEST" and "To Miss Mary MCMILLAN, now Mrs. M. E. C. BURROUGHS". Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of an O'BRIEN Family Researcher we've gathered the following information regarding Marie and her family: Marie Dolores O'BRIEN born 21 Nov 1899 in Alexandria, SD to parents Henry Edward O'BRIEN (b. MN) and Maud WEST (b. MN). Marie had three siblings, Francis Edward b. 1901; Irene b. 1908; and Leona b. 1916, all in Hanson Co. SD. The family later moved to Kimball, SD. Brother Francis married Evelyn LEWIS, Irene married Arthur GASPAR in 1936 in Mitchell, SD, and Leona married J. P. HASSLINGER in 1937 in Mitchell, SD. Marie married John Bernard PLUT on 25 May 1926 in Kimball, SD and died in Everett, WA on 28 Nov 1991. Census records provide the following: 1900 census of Wayne Township, SD: Edward OBRIEN, age 30, born Oct 1869, married 1 year, born MN, parents born Ireland, a Livery Man Maud OBRIEN, wife, age 25, born Oct 1874, married 1 year, 1 child/1 living, born MI, parents born NY Marie OBRIEN, dau, age 6 months, born Nov 1899, born SD + 2 servants I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this precious old treasure can be returned to the care of this family. If you are a member of the family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [WASNOHOM] NEW! SnoCo Obituary Index
    2. M V REID
    3. Hello, List folks... A new resource for early Snohomish County obituaries is now available on the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society's web site! The Everett Herald Obituary Index Project contains death information (obituaries, funeral announcements, cards of thanks, memorials, etc.) gathered from The Everett Daily Herald (beginning in January, 1910) and reprinted in The Sounder, the Society's quarterly publication. This is an EXPANDED INDEX, giving considerable detail in each data line. In addition to the name of the decedent, date of Herald publication and Sounder issue number, an index entry might include birth name (for a married woman), birth information, death date, death place, funeral information and burial date/place. If the birth name of a married woman is given in the source, a second data line is included, e.g. "HALTERMAN (see Florence STRANGE"). At present there are over 1000 lines in the data file covering January 1910 through April 1913.. The Sounder publishes early 20th Century obituaries in each quarterly issue; new data lines will then be added to the project's pages. You can find a link to The Everett Herald Obituary Project on the SIGS Special Projects Portal page at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wasigs/indexspecial.htm OR you can go directly to the Obits Index at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wasigs/EvHerObitIndex1INTRO.htm Margaret Robe Summitt, Editor of The Sounder, created the data file from which these index pages were made. Regards, Marge
