Surnames: Laz, Laznovsky, Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VEC.2ACI/3790 Message Board Post: Bob Laz died April 21, 2005, at home in Snohomish, Washington, after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for many years. He was 92. Bob and his twin brother, George, were born March 7, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, to Emil and Bessie Laznovsky. Bob and George moved to Flowing Lake in 1946, and with the help of their brother, Buddy, began building Wonderland Park Resort. After much blood, sweat and tears, the resort opened in April of 1950. Due to lack of consistent sunshine, the resort closed in 1960. Bob later chronicled those years in the book "The Epic of Wonderland Park". By the time the park closed, the brothers had begun a new business venture, Laz Tool and Manufacturing, which began in 1959 with George as the first employee, and Bob joining soon after. They successfully ran "The Shop", as family and friends called it, for many years, and the business continues today. The Laz brothers trained many people to become machinist, including many work-release inmates of the Monroe Reformatory. It was Bob and George's firm belief that training and education were the keys to a bright future. In the late 1970'! s, Bob and George began Wonderland Tree Farm. But Bob's big dream was to own an 18-hole golf course. This was realized in 1991, when Bob and his sons (with a lot of help from friends) started developing Flowing Lake Golf Course. The Golf Course officially opened in 1995 and is still prospering today. Bob was known far and wide as a very liberal Democrat who shared his opinions with anyone who would listen. His letters to the editors of local newspapers always generated comments, and at times, controversy. He was a very compassionate man who was devoted to helping those less fortunate. He generously contributed to various causes and one of his most rewarding associations was with the Kiwanis. Bob had many passions in life, and he particularly enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing. Many happy hours were spent with family and friends in pursuit of the elusive "big one". Bob's youthful dreams were to live on the water, own a large boat and to have his own golf course, and he counted himself very lucky that he was able to achieve these dreams. Bob is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Buddy; sister, Dodo; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; as well as a wealth of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, George; and his beloved wife, Sis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the Snohomish Food Bank, P.O. Box 1364, Snohomish 98291; Sky Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 724, Monroe; or Snohomish County Center for Battered Women, P.O. Box 7, Everett 98206. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, at G.A.R. Cemetery in Snohomish. Arrangements for cremation by Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.

She was born Lula S Edge in Alabama around 1873 to John Edge and Fraces Harvey. She married William Thomas Moore in 1889 in Texas but by the 1900 US Census they were living in Arlington, Snohomish, Washington. They had 4 children Gertrude, Jeanette, Garnet, and the last Thomas who was born August 8, 1901. William Moore remarried in 1909 to Cynthia Hall and as far as I know they have no additional children. So my thinking is that Lula died sometime between 1901-1909. If anyone can find her death certificate or perhapes where she is buried I would really really appreciate it, thank-you.

He married my grandmother Zion (Helen) McInnis in Skagit County on June 30, 1919, but marriage license lists them both as being from Snohomish County. My grandmother graduated from Arlington High School that same year, I believe. I am trying to obtain info on Louis, but I'm coming up short. I don't know his age, he was born in Sweden, and died several years into their marriage of tuberculosis, as the story goes. I can't find him on the death index. I don't know if they went to school together..I've looked at the archives of the Mount Vernon paper, looking for announcements of marriage/deaths, I'm wondering if I would have to travel to Olympia to look up Snohomish Co. newspapers?.If anyone could help, I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VEC.2ACI/3785.1 Message Board Post: The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society (located in north Snohomish County) has a collection of obituaries clipped from area newspapers, mostly from the Everett Herald. I found one for Cora E. Murphy in the 1974 collection and the one for Alice G. Rysted was in the 1977 notebook. The exact date of publication is not noted on the clippings. I did not find one for Luella S. Snell as having died in 1976. However, I later looked her up on the Social Security Death Index and it appears that she died in 1996, not 1976. I might be able to look for her the next time I go to the SVGS library in Arlington. Here is the text of the obituary for Cora E. Murphy (died 1974): Cora E. Murphy, 87, of 95 Lincoln St., Snohomish, died June 3 in Monroe. She was born June 2, 1887, in Kimball, S.D., coming to Clearview in 1931 and had lived in this area ever since. Mrs. Murphy leaves four sons, Bruce Stroud of Wrenshall, Minn., George Stroud of Snohomish, Jerry Stroud of Fruitland, Idaho and Floyd Stroud of Seattle; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Tillman of Cloquet, Minn., Mrs. Elva Lange of Green Bay, Wisc., Mrs. Alice Rainwater of Everett; Mrs. Louise Mashburn of Mountain Home, Idaho, Mrs. Charlotte Wardrip of Martel, Calif., and Mrs. Louella Snell of Snohomish; and many grandchildren. Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the Azalea Chapel of Purdy and Dawson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the GAR Cemetery. Rev. John A. Peeters will officiate. Casketbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Murphy: William C., Robert W., Richard L. and Donald N. Stroud and Jay and Donald Mylan. Here is the text for the obituary of Alice G. Rysted (died 1977): Alice G. Rysted, 62, of 726 Ave. B., Snohomish died at her home. She was born July 14, 1915 in Minnesota, and came to Snohomish as a youngster and had lived there since. She leaves her daughters, Mrs. Don (Gloria) Christianson of Ferndale; a son, Louis Wolf of Alaska; four grandchildren, Darrell and Chris Christianson of Ferndale and Floyd Elquist of Oregon and David Wolf; five sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Wardrip of Tahoe, Calif., Mrs. Louise Mashburn of Idaho, Mrs. Dorothy Tillman and Mrs. Elva Ruhnke both of Minnesota and Mrs. Luella Snell of Snohomish; and four brothers, George Stroud of Snohomish, Bruce Stroud of Minnesota, Jerry Stroud of Idaho and Jake Stroud of Seattle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in the Azalea Chapel of Purdy and Dawson Funeral Home.
