This information was taken at the library using Ancestry. Could someone who has access to the census film make a copy of this entry? I'm trying to verify if this is my John McLean who came to Washington State from Prince Edward Island Canada. Oral history says he had a wife named Mattie and a son. I'm not sure if he was married on PEI, or in Washington. Is there some way a look-up could be made for a marriage record. probably some time after 1879? Any help is greatly appreciated. Hi, I have just subscribed to this list and this is my first query. I'm trying to find anyone who has knowledge about the family names of Imislund and Arentzen. I have family from Wisconsin who moved to Stanwood and Sedro Woolley in the early part of the 20th century. I am now trying to learn what I can of their families. I believe they may still be living in the area. Thanks, Robert L. Evensen Cambridge, Massachusetts

Karn, a Marysville farmer, is attempting to secure a complaint from the prosecuting attorney of King County. Karn alleges that Charles Kelman, 21 years of age, eloped with his 14-year-old stepdaughter, Grace Travis, but to avoid notoriety he does not desire the alleged offender tried in Snohomish County, where the crime took place. Kelman and the Travis girl were arrested in Seattle Sunday night upon telegraphic instructions from Everett. The man is still in the city jail and the girl is with the police matron. The girl’s mother will arrive in Seattle today and the daughter will be turned over to her. “I was told by the prosecuting attorney at Everett,” said Karn, “that I could prosecute Kelman in King County.” Karen will see prosecuting attorney Mackintosh today and if a complaint is not forthcoming from Everett, Kelman will be turned loose.

Good morning, SnoCo researchers! Sorry this announcement is late... Our Dave Ault *** sent this announcement to me to be forwarded to you... The Seattle Genealogical Society Computer Interest Group meeting on August 13th will be the "RootsMagic Users' Workshop #2." Patricia Summers-Smith and Tim Dooley will lead the workshop. The meeting will be software-specific to the RootsMagic genealogy database program and its users, and will cover a more in-depth discussion and exploration of using different features of the program. It is your meeting and they want it to meet your needs, interests and level of usability. Patricia Summers-Smith would welcome hearing if there are any particular RootsMagic features you would like to see explored in more detail, or if there is any special focus you would like to see at the meeting. Would you like to explore the Publisher feature? Discuss and explore sources in more detail? Using photos and scrapbooks? Learn more about reporting possibilities? Or just concentrate on how to perform data entry? Since it is a software specific meeting aimed at users of the RootsMagic genealogy program, we will set up tables for everyone who has a laptop to work on RootsMagic along with us. Be prepared to bring your laptop. Please also bring a power strip if you have one, so more than one person can use each plug-in. The focus of the meeting will be for RootsMagic users, but anyone is welcome to attend. Please write Patricia Summers-Smith at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>regarding any RootsMagic features you want to discuss and explore or about any usability issues you might be having. She is looking forward to hearing from you. This meeting will be held on Saturday, August 13th from 10:00 a.m to Noon in the second floor conference room at NARA. Starting information: This message has been posted on [email protected], and will also be posted on [email protected] when my subscription is accepted. Also posted on [email protected] yesterday, and will be posted WASHINGTON-L @rootsweb.com, as time is running outfor my friend. Please read the information submitted. Search for Sigurd Olson Eklebakken's grave, b. May 4th, 1891 in Norway, d. ca 1961 in WA I was wondering if some kind person up in the Northwest could be to help, I am writing on behalf on my friend, Rolv Bjørn Laingen, which is just now on the road to Gardermoen Airport to catch a Continental plane to Washington DC (he will visit his father's cousin Bruce L, yes the very Bruce from the Theheran embassy occupation, from Odin, MN). And he is on to Seattle and Vancouver, BC Aug. 12th (this was written Monday night). But that is of course not a problem. His mothers father emigrated to USA (first to MN) in 1925, we have found his emigration record (http://tinyurl.com/9cfjb), and that he was filing for naturalization in MN (http://tinyurl.com/9qjwc). His name was Sigurd Olson Eklebakken, b. May 4, 1895 (in the emigration record his birthdate is given to be May 11th) at Eklebakken farm in Garmo sub parish, Lom parish, Kristians amt (now Oppland fylke) in Norway. He went later (do not know when) on to WA, and worked either at a sawmill or a lumber company, we think, but ca 1930 in was crippled in an accident at work, and was in a hospital/nursing home for ca 30 years. The bygdebok says that he died in 1961, and that is the year before the SSDI database is starting, we found on their help/info file :-( . My friend would like to see his grandpa's grave, and put some fowers on it from the family. We do not know if the grave has a tombstone or any other kind of marker. A lady from Lom who lived in Seattle until 1967, had visited him some years before he died, but all she could recall now over 45 years later, was that it was some connection to Snohomish, but if that was the town or the county, she could not tell. When his son took over the farm in 1937, he sent a paper for the sale, but this have only a date, not the location :-( . The witnesses seem to have Scandinavian names, maybe Swedish, we guess that it might be nurses at the home. We found a site at Suzzello Library where microfilm of a paper in Everett covers 1961; http://www.rootsweb.com/~wasnohom/suzzallo.htm (film no. A4694, Everett Daily Herald). He has been in contact with the WAGS (Darlene Hamilton), which also was stucked. She advised him to spend at lest half a day at Seattle Pub. Library (address Kerry McCoy). But if some can help me find out of this mystery before he returns from BC on Aug. 15th, I can guarantee you he will be very happy :-) . I will forward any information, he can read his e-mail everywhere, and his daughter has an hotmail account, I'll send the info cc to her also. We have also found from the yellow pages nursing homes (http://tinyurl.com/cwwk2) and funeral homes in the city of Snohomish (http://tinyurl.com/8lceb). I have now also found listing of cemeteries, which I'll send him tonight (http://tinyurl.com/amcoe). We have also looked into how to get a death certificate, and he have all the information and prices with him, and will discuss with relatives tomorrow if it is wise thing to order for any to the address in Vancouver, we saw that rapid delivery was 3-5 days with courier mail. What are listers experience with death certificates. Will also burial site be given on them in the USA (not in Norway to my knowledge)? This became a bit long, but I felt I had to explain well what we already had done, so it is not done twice. I'm crossing my fingers in anxious! Snohomish Cemetery is the only cemetery within the city limits of Snohomish, not to be confused with the G.A.R. Cemetery (Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery). Snohomish Cemetery has been called variously as Pioneer Cemetery, Indian Cemetery, etc. Caucasian and Indian (Native American) remains were buried there until circa 1923. Here is the latest on this cemetery which has been in "debacle" over the many years after the 1947 cut through a portion of that cemetery was done for a Highway 2. A new bridge and access leaving the east side of the City of Snohomish, leaving a smaller north portion and a much larger south portion of the old cemetery that remained. The latter portion is the proposed site for a new Senior Center to replace the old house that has been the Senior Center atop the cemetery for so long a period of time. The location of this main portion site is located at 2nd St. and Cypress (near 2nd and Pine) Snohomish-the bridge and road that connects to Hwy 2 toward Monroe just outside the City. The latest effort is as reported in The Herald: Ref. The HERALD, Everett, WA. Date: Tues.
