EUDINE 'DEANNIE' SPARKS, our beloved angel on earth ISCHUA - C. Eudine "Deannie" Sparks of Route 16 died Monday, September 18, 2000 at the St. James Hospital in Hornell after a long illness. Born April 11, 1919 in Mount Vernon, Wash, she was a daughter of Charles E. and Evelyne Wilson Prater. On April 24, 1943 in Tacoma, Wash. she married Earl S. Sparks, who survives. Mrs. Sparks was a 1937 graduate of Concrete High School in Concrete, Wash. She was a telephone operator in the State of Washington. After moving to Ischua, she worked for the Jack Chamberlain Farm for several years. Mrs. Sparks retired from Motorola of Arcade, NY in 1981 after 16 years of service. She was a past Sunday School teacher at the Belfast Baptist Church, the Rawson Road Baptist Church, the Black Creek Baptist Church and the Ischua Union Church where she was a member and past Sunday School Superintendent. She served on the church's Central Committee for many years. She also served as Ischua Town Clerk and was a member of the Ischua Ladies Aid. She enjoyed and loved people and giving and doing for others. She took great pride in her family Mrs. Sparks loved wildlife, birds, flowers and gardening. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sparks is survived by two sons, Charles Sparks of Augusta, W. Va. and James A. Sparks of Limestone; two daughters, Earleen (Jim) Crary of Capon Bridge, W. Va. and Melissa (Dick) Nix of Ischua; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson; a sister Marjorie Geroy;and four brothers Charles Prater, Herbert Prater, James Prater and Roy Prater. Funeral services September 21, 2000 at 11am in the Ischua Union Church, Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ischua Cemetery.
