Greetings! I'm hoping that someone will be nice enough to help me with a look-up for an obit. I'm willing to pay for this service. The information I need is for a Chauncey S. TENNANT. He died in Skagit Co. on what I believe is September 29th, 1919. Are there any newspapers on microfilm that covered Skagit Co. during that time? Any help is greatly appreciated. I've run into a dead end concerning his children and I'm hoping that an obit will mention them. Thank you in advance for your help. Dianne

There are 7 Huggins listed if you want phone numbers. Where do you live? There are a lot of Davis's around also.

Hi A bit about migration patterns. It was not unusual for immigrants that came through the Great Lakes and ended up in Michigan, Wisconsin, or the rest of the plain states to move west to Washington State...particularly the Puget Sound area. The railroads made the trip easy. Nearly 50 % of the men registered in the WW1 book with Earl B Kamhout- were born in 6 Plains states. Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, North and South Dakotas and Iowa. The flood plains west of Mt. Vernon in Skagit County grows world famous tulips. Linden, further north in Whatcom County holds tightly to it's Dutch heritage. I did check my Skagit County database and did not find more references to Kamhouts. However I do not have Anacortes Cemetery records. It is unusual for him to be discharged at Charleston SC. The usual practice was to bring the service men to the nearest military installation to his hometown. So he may have ties to SC... Wa Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wa/Skagit?read=83 Surname: GUSTAFSON, SEMELL, WISTBACKA, LARSON, SKOOG ------------------------- Ida GUSTAFSON, my grandmother, was born in Terjervi, Finland, 15 May 1869 with the name Ida Sophia Carlsdotter Wistbacka, and as Ida SEMELL died in Mount Vernon in Skagit County, Washington, 22 August 1937. My 93 year old mother, Neva LARSON Semell, remembers that sometime, some place, Ida's surname became Gustafson and she married Matt SEMELL from Nedervetil, Finland. They had a picture taken by a photographer in Mendencino, California, and ran a boarding house in Eureka, Utah, before buying a farm near Mt Vernon at the turn of the century. Their children were Ted, Hilda, Stan, Elf, and Ellen SEMELL. They attended the Swede Finn church before Salem Lutheran Church was built, and had Swede Finn friends in the area. Ida had brothers nearby, one of whom had a mine. There were also some SKOOG relatives nearby. Ida's father was Carl GUSTAFSON. I would like to find my Gustafson relatives. I'm also very interested in stories of these early Swedes in Skagit County.

Wa Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wa/Skagit?read=79 Surname: Eckenberg, Reid, Goneau ------------------------- I am looking for some help in Skagit County. I have a Missing great Grandmother. Nora Reed/Reid was born in Georgia on October 24,1873. Her Family then moved to TX and then to Northwestern Washington. Nora married William Goneau before 1905. She had Two children William jr b.08-01-1905 and Graza Loretta (Dolly) b. 04-30-1906. Nora then Married George Eckenberg of Samish Island. I have found a reference to George Eckenberger in "Samishgold Memoirs"by Lawerence E Hansen. The Article was written James Squires Jr and Gladys Squires. I would like to get incontact with either of these people to see if they have any more information on the Eckenbergers and/or the Reed/Reids. Due to the Whatcom County courthouse fire I can not obtain a copy of Graza's birth certificate to confirm the spelling of Nora's last name. Any Help would be appreciated. I am at a total brick wall. I do have info on some of the Eckenbergs from 1912 to current if anyone else is researching them.
