    3. I made my first trip to the Virginia Room of the Fairfax library today. First, I had to _find_ the Fairfax library. The directions on their web site are detailed, but not much use unless you either memorize them before you go, have someone along to read them to you, or have a GPS unit. I just kept circling blocks once I saw the sign. (It's not very visible from the street if you're looking for it for the first time.) I finally found the entrance to the (small)) parking lot. Fortunately, the new library building will be opening sometime in the next few months. (I forgot to ask if there's a specific date.) They have some Washington DC city directories on microfilm, some on microfiche and others as hard copy, many in archival boxes. (Archival boxes are things to keep fragile, ready-to-fall-apart books.) Of course, they have lots of Northern Virginia info, especially for Fairfax and Prince William counties. Much to my surprise, one of my Virginia lines, which I expected to find further south and west, apparently were in Fairfax county. (I have to do some checking as it was one of those families where it seems like every other male was named William.) The Virginia Room is on the third floor, so you might want to take the elevator. (I was surprised as I didn't think the library had a third floor.) There are plastic ducks and a plastic penguin on the roof of the second floor, which you can see from the Virginia Room. The librarians were very helpful. Elizabeth Whitaker

    3. William Henry was a very popular name for men in the 1800's. I have two great grandfathers who were named William Henry, plus a great great uncle - then there were the just plain William kin folk too. Keeps us on our toes untangling who is who LOL My God provides my every need according to His riches in glory.
