Hi Brenda, I have not run across the M. ATHE you mention who was in the 1850 Census with your PAYNE. I have done some research on Thomas ATHEY in Georgetown trying to determine if the Elizabeth BROWN he married in 1842 was the daughter of my ancestor, John BROWN, and his first wife, whoever she might be (possibly Ann FAGAN).
