Yes, I am sure she was born in DC - she told me that back in 1969 when I first met her. She also said she is one half Cherokee - and she truly looked as though she was. She died in 1984, I believe. I talked with her son the other day and he confirmed that she was born in DC. World War II did not start until 1941, she would have been 20 by then - and probably married too.
