Just curious, where is Corcoran St. in relation to 14th & U NW. I looked on my DC map but couldn't find it. Will look again tho. I went to school on V St. NW between 14th & 15th just one block up from U. Back in the 1940s the neighborhood was great. As a young teenager could go anywhere at night, however, when I got to be 16 & 17 it was turning into a bad neighborhood around Central High School (Cardoza now) and Meridian Hill Park. I was down that way last summer and it seemed the neighborhood during the day was okey. We had lunch at a hot dog place on U St. They are renovating all the old apartment buildings on Belmont St, Clifton St. and Chapin St. and probably many more. In the 40s mostly single parent families lived in the area and worked for the government. The mothers of all my friends were single parents and worked for government. By the way, does anyone remember old Turners Arena on W St. NW and the barn dances (dancing the Paul Jones) that they held on Saturday nights. It was a nice way to meet people. Corcoran Street runs from 18th ST NW to 13th St NW. It is 2 blocks north of Logan Circle at 13th and 3 blocks north of Dupont Circle at 18th. This comes from the latest map of city of Washington. My God provides my every need according to His riches in glory. Amen ____________________________________________________________________________________ Expecting?
