I also like to see answers sent to the whole list. That's why I subscribe - so I can learn about D.C. research. If you look at this NARA site http://www.nara.gov/nara/dc/Archives1_directions.html down near the end there is a section about a staff shuttle bus. It seems to run between the NARA in D.C. and the NARA in MD and is free and can be used by researchers on a space available basis. Since you have a little time you might call or e-mail NARA and ask if there is "usually space available". My guess is that is would be a good way to travel between the two libraries. My husband and I use the free shuttle any time we ever go downtown to the DC location because there is free, guarded parking at the College Park location and the ride is free. The buses are nice and clean, and there is almost always an almost empty bus unless you are the first or last bus of the day. As long as you avoid those, you'll be fine. Of course, for your purpose, you are coming from DC and you want the MD State Archives in Annapolis, not the NARA in College Park. You could still take the free shuttle from downtown to College Park. Once there you'd be closer to Annapolis than when you were in DC, but once in College Park I don't know what you'd do. It's pretty secluded and in a residential area. About all I know you could do from there is call a cab to get you to Annapolis. That would probably undo all the good your free shuttle just did you.
