    1. [WashingtonDC'' ] Proprietors for Federal City
    2. Hi All! I'm looking to connect with any and all descendants of both the Original Proprietors and the Proprietors in 1791 of the land that Washington, DC was built on. The reason is this--there is a new museum opening in the Spring of 2003, called the City Museum. It will be located in the Carnegie Museum and will be all about the early days of the city and the history prior to it's building. I'm a descendant of the Burnes family, they owned about 600 acres in Prince George's Co that became the southern grounds of the White House, the Treasury, the Postal Building, the Smithsonian, the old Navy Yard, the Washington Monument, the State Dept, the Jefferson Memorial. Their house was located on the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Ave, the location of the Pan American Building today. Myself and many of my Burnes cousins will be attending the opening ceremony of the City Museum and we would like other descendants of the Proprietors to attend as well. Wouldn't it be great to have all of them represented? I will be posting a list of all of the names of them and would love to hear from their descendants!
