Would appreciate assistance for 2 lookups at MLK Library, Washingtonian Room: (1) 1900 DC directory -- Seek coordinates for "Madison" street/place in 1900 (1500 block). The old directories have section in front called "Street Directory" which lists street names and locations. Have found many street names were re-named around turn of the century, and I don't think this Madison St. is the same as the street in upper northwest. (2) 1868 DC Directory - Need lookup for person surnamed "Queen" with reference to business "Jackson & Queen". My Gr-Gr-Grandfather's (Henry Jackson) 1868 directory listing referenced this business name. I'd like to know who his partner was. Was born & raised in DC. Have been researching my family lines (African American) for almost 10 years. Have traced several lines back to slave ancestors. The "Henson Ridge" housing development project underway in Anacostia is named for my 4th-Great-Grandfather, Tobias Henson, who was born a slave abt 1770 and purchased his freedom in 1818. Miss having access to DC resources. Good to know there are people who may be able to help. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
