My mother-in-law's mother was married to her husband first in Alexandria, VA in 1922 but they had to be "remarried" by a Catholic priest in 1926 before their first child could be baptized in the Catholic church (which happened to be Holy Comforter). The second ceremony apparently was to satisfy some requirement in the Catholic church; perhaps the Catholic church did not recognize the first marriage. My questions: Does the Catholic church keep a record of this "remarriage"? If so, is there a register, certificate, etc that could be photocopied? I would like to request such a record if possible.
