Dear Listers, . Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of what documents one would have had to file in 1906 in DC to be declared a widow? What the waiting period might have been? And what courts would take care of this at that time? My grandfather disappeared and Grandmother in DC thought she was a widow. I have discovered (nearly 100 years later) that she was not, and that he actually went back to England. She is single in the 1920 census. I may be barking up an impossible tree but thought it worth looking into since there seems to be no trace of her death records either. Thanks for any ideas.
