Hello all, Let me introduce myself as a new member of the list. My name is Joe Elliott, I was born in Wash DC in 1952, and now live in Kansas. I have only recently joined the Wash DC Historical Society, but been unable as yet to get back to do any more hands on research there. My family surnames are almost entirely from Wash DC and surrounding areas, like Alexandria VA and Charles County MD. I am interested not only in my family's roots in these areas, but also in the associated history. Any relation to Joseph Gibson who married Hannah Brumley. Joseph was supposedly born in England. In Delaware before coming to D.C. (we think). They were married April 14, 1818 in D.C. Two known children at this point: Johanna Elizabeth Gibson born about 1819 married Alfred B. Claxton in 1840. She died March 31, 1853 in D.C. They had four children. James Staughton Gibson born about 1825 died March 1846 in D.C. My connection comes from Hannah Brumley. Her sister Jennet was my ggg grandmother.
