    3. The DC Public Library has newspapers on microfiche dating back to the 1800's. Perhaps they can do a search for you. http://www.dclibrary.org/ The location on "G" Street, NW has microfiche machines and you can make copies of selected pages for either 5 or 10 cents each. -----Original Message----- From: Mary E. 3. Most of the newspapers are on microfilm and they are 15 cents each. I don't know if they charge for the service. The Evening Star begins at 1852 and The Washington Post begins at 1877. The Washington National Intelligencer precedes the Star. Ancestry.com is in the process of transcribing old newspapers, but have not gotten to D.C. papers yet. When that day comes, we won't have to deal with old microfilms that are hard to read. -----Original Message----- From: Bice, Nancy [mailto:nabice@venable.com] Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2002 2:28 PM To: WashingtonDC-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [WashingtonDC'' ] Washington DC Newspapers The DC Public Library has newspapers on microfiche dating back to the 1800's.
