Hi List, Thanx to the "on-line" Washington Post being loaded out by Ancestry.com, I discovered some unpleasant news that my wife's great-grandfather died in police custody in 1915 after being arrested for larceny. (At least it was HER side of the family -ha!). Anyway, does anyone know if police records for that time period exist and where they might be found? I would like to see if he had a history of run-ins with the police, etc. GLad we can all breathe safely again!! Harry Rudd
Curious about the name of your relative Harry. My Gggrandfather and his son were part of the police force (Vermillion was the name) - I've found tons of references to Howard Vermillion, in particular, making arrests. I hope they put more of the "Post" out there soon. I've found death notices, birth notices, society info. and tons of other info.
