My Grandmother and her 9 siblings were born Washington. D.C. as were the next two generations,, They grew up on a place, a farm, a plantation, an estate ??? This place was always refered to as GLEN ELLEN.. Time line is 1894 -1920. It was in the NW part of the city as far I can figure out,,They talked a lot about Georgetown..Has anyone ever run across this place name.. The family name is Owens, they did not own the place. Thank you Gayle from CA. Hello List
My Dad was born, raised, and lived in DC all his life. He says he doesn't recognize the name "Glen Ellen" but that Glen Echo isn't far from Georgetown. It was an amusement park from the time Dad can remember. However, the area was also called Glen Echo and has houses, etc. as well as the park. I don't know if this helps.
