I am having trouble digging the reference out of the library catalogs. For instance, I know the Sutro library in San Francisco has a series of Washington DC directories, but it also has many gaps. Some places had directories provided by different vendors (don't know if this applies to DC). However, I have been unable to find Washington DC's city directories in the online catalogs at CSL (Sutro) and other libraries, trying to look beyond local resources. I am particularly interested in directories from 1900-1902 and 1908-1914, altho the whole period 1895-1930 is what I am studying. Anyone have any advice? Libraries to search? Kept your successful catalogue query string and can forward it to me? Thanks, ==mwh Michael Helm Richmond CA
