Hi Washington D. C. Listers, I can hardly express my sadness and grief. As a native Washingtonian, I am painfully aware that some of those that were injured or perished in the Pentagon yesterday could well be former neighbors, acquaintances an friends of my family from when we lived in D. C. (and Arlington) years ago. I cried at work and many of my coworkers, knowing I was from that area, stopped by to see if I had any family involved. For a short time, I did think that a cousin worked there and later found out that he hadn't worked at the Pentagon for a while. My sister normally goes into D. C. or Rockville on Mondays for meetings related to her work; Yesterday morning she cancelled a meeting in D. C. because her son had a fever and her husband was not able to stay home with him (rare, because he is a self-employed artist who can usually spontaneously amend his schedule more readily than my sister!) I had a heck of a time getting through to her to make sure she was okay. I feel helpless that I am so far from the city I love so much (warts and all). My daughter and I will try to donate blood this week. We are praying and will continue to pray. I am leaving momentarily to go to work. I wrk for an insurance company that serves members with a military affiliation. Let's pray for all of them, for all the victims, their families, the resue and emergency workers and their families, too. I am wearing red, white and blue today - as well as my American Flag lapel pin, in a show of support for all Americans affected. If anyone has a suggestion for another way that D. C.'s far-flung native sons and daughters, such as my family, can help, please let me know. God Bless Us All.
