    1. [WashingtonDC'' ] What is a "match pocket" (from Teacher's Journal)
    2. I have been reading the pages from the Teacher's Journal with great interest, but I'm stumped. What is a match pocket, which is listed as (I suppose) a gift for one of the boys? Would a boy that young need to carry matches, if that's what it's for? Barbara

    3. I was also curious when transcribing "match pocket". After seeing your email I did a search on the internet and didn't find anything that would clear up the mystery. So I went back to the journal and took another look. At first hand it looks like "match pocket" but it could by "watch pocket". I'm not sure that helps for how could someone give a "watch pocket" as a gift. I thought "watch pockets" were made into the garments worn as in a vest or pants watch pocket. I also did a search on the internet for "watch pocket" and found a Butcher's Watch Pocket c. 1914 that is a small folding camera with tapered bellows taking pictures 23 inches square. But I think this would have been too expensive a gift. I don't think I've helped any. But maybe someone else on the list can.
