Thanks Margy. I have one reference that William Rhodes of Rhodes Tavern in early Washington married a daughter of Joseph Semmes, also a prominent Washington innkeeper. This would seem to buttress the claims of a close relationship between the Rhodes and Simms/Semmes families. However, so far I have yet to find an actual citation to any marriage.
