I have an obit for a small child (4years 10 months) who died July 8, 1859 in Washington. He was Virgil Maxcy Mattingly, son of Thomas Joseph Mattingly and Anna Reeves. This couple was married in November of 1853 by Rev. French Evans, a Methodist Minister. In 1860, they baptized their first daughter, Harriet Mattingly, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in DC at the age of 2 1/2 and her sponsor was Dr. Martin Van Buren Bogan. Don't know the connection with this doc unless he cared for their deceased son during his short illness. At the time of their son's death, the Mattingly's lived at 522 Massachusetts Ave. Don't know if anyone would know of a burial place....perhaps Methodist....near to there. I don't find Virgil in Congressional Cemetery. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If the Mattinglys baptized their daughter at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, North Capitol St. DC,, its possible they converted to Catholicism. In that event, they may be buried at Mt.
