I'm trying to find info on two addresses at which one set of my great-great-grandparents lived in the 1910s and 1930s. (I have info on a third address.) One address was 135 Maryland Ave. NE. This is apparently occupied by part of the U.S. Supreme Court Building. (These ancestors lived at that address for at least part of the 1910s.) The other address was 1134 Park Place NW. (I think. I'm travelling and won't be home until late tomorrow.) The street still exists but the street number does not. (I've checked on Googlemaps.) Also, where would be the grantor/grantee indexes for DC from 1910 to 1940 be? This great-great-grandfather also dealt in real estate, and at least some of what he sold was apparently his own property. btw, these are my great-great-grandparents who are buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery. This third address, which was fairly nearby, may explain why they picked that cemetery. Thank you. Elizabeth Whitaker

Elizabeth: DC is fond of having Street, Place, and Road with the same name. There is Park Road, NW, with an address of 1134, then there's Park Place, NW without the 1134. And then there is Park Street, NE with an address of 1134. The current location of the Supreme Court originated in 1932 with the cornerstone installed in October of that year. It's hard to tell what the neighborhood(s) would have been like in the 1930's and before since things have changed so radically. I couldn't find anything about where, when or who sold the property to the government.
