Amy, I have spoken with the guy who is or at least was running the DC Archive (if he hasn't been replaced). The issue, and I agree with him is that he receives little or no funding or assistance. The times I have been there, he was the only guy working. They reduced the budget and took staff. I also spoke with the man who is running the vital statistics bureau, he appears to have a beef with the archive. You know how they just make a copy of something and send it back. (at least when they get a chance). Well, he wants the archive to charge $18.00 or more per certified copy. Most of us don't need a certified copy, just a copy! He didn't understand that. He also wants the archive to charge $30.00 per hour for checking in addition to the copy. His feeling is that they must be self supporting and bring in revenue. I truly understand the guy at the archive's frustration, with no help you can do little or nothing. Hope you understand better. Trish
