I have many families associated with D.C. and should have joined before now - hope you will be able to help "catch me up" and I will be able to add to your family trees. These are my main D.C. connections - DEVINE/DIVINE Cadirsis Nolan (or C.N) DEVINE b. abt. 1851 Loudoun Co. VA w.- Anne Eliza (ALEXANDER) b. 1860 Frederick Co. MD children - Blanche H. Devine - b. 1880 (married 1st to someone named WILCOX then to Louis BERGMAN - their son was Armond Francis Bergman - she was then married to someone named MARSHALL) Lena Leota Devine - b. 1882 (1st married to someone named STRANAHAN? then married to Hubert L. KING) Keefer Young Devine - b. 1887 (married to Catherine SMITH) Nettie Mae Devine - b. 1889 (married to Lawrence McINTEER - their son was Hubert) Mary Devine - b. 1890 Manda Rex Devine - b. 1893 (possibly known as Maude and married to Harold KELLOGG) Carrie W. Devine - b. 1884 another family member who resided in D.C. was Aaron DIVINE (b. 1784 VA) brother of C.N. Devine's grandfather. SMITH James C. SMITH - b. 1859 in Ohio w. - Louise (SPIESS) b. 1867 in D.C. children - Adaliade K. Smith - b. 1887 Helen Mary Smith - b. 1888 (married Keefer Y. DEVINE) Catherine L. Smith - b. 1892 Albert J. Smith - b. 1894 (married Hazel RAY) SPIESS Emile SPIESS - b. abt. 1829 Germany w. Wilhelmina (DREAKA) b. abt. 1836 Germany children - Louis A. Spiess - b. 1854 (married Margaret REAGAN) Dora Spiess - b. 1860 Charles Spiess - b. abt. 1863 Louise Spiess - b. 1859 (married James C. SMITH) ALEXANDER George W. ALEXANDER - b. 1832/36 MD w. Henrietta C. (YOUNG) - b. 1829 Frederick Co. MD children - Ella Henrietta Alexander - b. 1858 Ann E. Alexander - b. 1860 (married to Cadirsis Nolan DEVINE) May McClellan Young Alexander - b. 1862 (married to James W. HERBERT) One last small connection to D.C. was with the family of Hiram GRUBB b. 1825 VA - w. Catharine (HURDLE), children Anne, John M.& Mary. I think that he died during the Civil War of wounds (in 1862) so they would have probably only spent 10 years in D.C. as a family.
