    3. Many libraries can only afford the census and the books. My library had big budget cuts-we're lucky we still have those two sources. They told me they were not even thinking of adding the historical newspapers even before the cuts. Some one mentioned earlier the heritage quest-old- site. Indeed, they used to have one where you could buy disks etc., I bought some of the 1870 indexes about 4 or 5 years ago there. About 3 or 4 years ago they sold out to genealogy.com. About that time they took down their old site and now they only service libraries. Godfrey is still your best bet. The price is great and now that they have added the National Intelligencer and the Alexandria Gazette they are my heroes:-).
