Cecile, It's possible that he was born in Vancouver Canada - and then there is Vancouver in Washington State - just a hop, skip and a jump. Cecile. Found a William S. Craven, at www.Ancestry.com. It is from Wisconsin Births 1820-1907, William S, Craven 29 Jul 1881 in Waupaca, WI Reel 0305 Number 002139. I believe Waupaca is a county in WI. Also, found one William H. Craven died 16 Oct 1883, in Waupaca, WI. That could be his father or grandfather. There is a 1900 Larabee, Waupaca, WI., Census that has William and Mary with son William born about 1882. Sounds like your folks. Helen --------------------------------- It's here! Your new message! Cecile, Are you sure he died in Washington, D.C? Maybe it was Washington state? I've known people who wanted to go to the state of Washington and walked off in Washington, DC. Have you tried www.USGenWeb.com Archives or www.Ancestry.com ? ccraven <cecileandpat@sbcglobal.net> wrote: Hello, Could someone maybe help me I'm looking for information on Name: William S. Check with DC Archives. They most likely even have a death certificate for him if he died in DC My God provides my every need according to His riches in glory. >>>>> Looking for burial location of John William OUSLEY died 2 Mar 1888 in Washington DC<<<<<<<<<< You can look in the new Pippenger book for Oak Hill Cemetery. If you call there during the week, they might look up the one name. The burials for Cedar Hill are on-line, I believe. Some of the other cemeteries have partial listings. Go to the DC genweb site. You might check the Washington Post for an obituary. I know sometimes it's very hard. I have several family members probably buried in DC and haven't found them yet. Best wishes, Brenda Payne Rose

Sally 1920 census shows the 1300 block of Massachusetts Ave S.E. No House number is shown for his family but the house/apt is located between 1318 & 1316. It shows him, his wife, 4 children and his mother in law. 1910 list the 2600 block of L St N.W. the writing is bad but it looks like 2611 L St N.W. it shows him, his wife and 1 child. Hope this helps Bertha Powe ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Hi folks - Just wondered if someone could do a look-up for the Raymond and Irene Decker family in the 1910 and 1920 census in Washington, DC. I am primarily interested in their address at those times, so that is the only information I am searching for. Raymond was born circa 1889. Thanks for your help, Sally Gudas

Hi Chris, Several years ago I looked into this Sinclair family in DC. My great-grandmother was Mary Sinclair - according to the back of a picture. My great-grandfather, John Thomas Riston was from the DC area. My Mary Sinclair's maiden name is still unknown, but I did find that Rosanna Lyles married George St. Clair. They had a daughter Mary A. An index of marriages for DC shows that a Alice M. St. Clair married James W. W. Plant on Apr. 18, 1863. Thinking that M. could be Mary I found the family in the 1880 census, where they have a daughter named Rosanna. Not conclusive evidence, but gives cause to wonder. By 1880 my great-grandfather was a widower, which proved Alice M. couldn't be my great-grandmother. George SINCLAIR, b. 1809 in DC, wife Rosanna (she later a furniture dealer after George died), was a "Tavern Keeper" there in the 1850 Fed. Census. Looking for location or any information. George died between the 1850 and 1860 censuses, and the family apparently changed the name to St. CLAIR. Rosanna appears with the children in the 1860 census under StClair. George's father was apparently an R. SINCLAIRE, in DC in the 1930 Census. Anyone have any information or ideas on this family? Back then, it's most likely that they lived in the hotel. I don't know for sure, but that would be a place to start. Living at the family business was usually very practicable, especially since it was routine for the entire family to work in the family business. Commuting to work wasn't really practical until the streetcar lines began and spread. I believe the home on Eastern Avenue is still St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home. Elizabeth Fairport, NY ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
There was a home Christ Child Society. There was a thrift store on Wisconsin Avenue and P Street that I think might have been connected with the home for children. My Mother had a child's name at Christmas time to purchase a gift. his might have been prior to the Home for children now located on Eastern Avenue. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
