I have the book, "District of Columbia Marriage Records 1870-1877" compiled by Dorothy S. Provine. This book is an index to the volumes entitled Record of Marriage that were created and maintained in the clerk's office of Supreme Court of the District of Columbia (now District of Columbia Superior Court). Entries show the names of the bride and groom, the date of marriage or granting of license, and the volume and page of the Record of Marriage that contains that entry. Entries in which the date is followed by an "L" indicate that the date shown is the date a license was granted. Entires without the L show the date of marriage. According to the book, these Records of Marriage have been transferred to the DC Archives. I found the following two entries for that period. I'm sending them along in case they are of interest to you. Marders, Charles F. Madigan, Mary 11 Sept 1872 L 4:233 Marders, W. H. Goldsmith, Margaret D. 10 Sept 1874 7:112 Barbara
I am currently working on the Robey family, much of which lived/lives in Washington DC. I do not have much information that I have compiled on the DC portion of Robeys but I have a good amount of information from another Robey that has been researching the entire Robey name. I have been passing all that I compile on to him also. Chuck Robey

Hello I was wondering if there is anyone on this list that has access to old newspapers and is willing to do an obituary lookup. I am looking for an obituary for BENNIE CONWAY, born June 23, 1886 and died August 1966 in Washington DC. I would appreciate any help or suggestions as to where I may obtain help. I understand you cannot obtain death certificates for individuals who died in Washington DC unless you are a direct family member, so this could be my only way to find out about this family. Any help appreciated. Thanks Jo Pace from Denver, Colorado JoPace46@attbi.com
