    3. I am new to this list. I have just found my ggrandmother in the 1860 census in DC. The census entries are as follows: Jane Beach age:30 born: VA Susan " " 32 " VA Fannie " " 12 " MD Louis " " 10 " DC Charles " " 8 " DC Martha " " 6 " DC Sarah " " 4 " DC I believe Fannie is my ggrandmother. My first information on her was from the 1880 census. She was then living in Staten Island, NY and was married to Denis SULLIVAN. She was recorded as being 30 years old and born in VA. That is all I really know about her. Any additional information would be a godsend. TIA. 1. [WashingtonDC'' ] 1910 and 1920 DC Census
    2. annie
    3. Does anyone know of an index for the 1910 and 1920 census (ancestry doesn't seem to for DC)?? With or without the address it's like a needle in a haystack searching through the enumeration districts and images. I have a Howard M. Vermillion at 240 8th St. SE in 1926. I know he died in 1926 - his widow Lillian may be listed in 1930 - but I'm hoping he's somewhere in the 1920 census at that address. The SE addresses don't seem prevalent in the enumeration districts. I've tried using map blasters. Any other suggestions?? Thank You Annie Harris Surname: Vermillion

    2. Susan McIntyre
    3. I too am having trouble finding where on the 1930 census my ancestors are located. My cousin gave me some sound advice that may also help you - he said what he does is - go to MapQuest at http://www.mapquest.com/ and enter that address that you are searching for (you have to include Washington as the city - state DC) then either make a copy of the map or jot down the streets and landmarks in the area and use the additional information to try to match the description included with the enumeration districts. If you find an enumeration district that matches at least part of the area description you can begin searching - it may take a few tries before locating the right one but it at least narrows the search field. Good Luck Susan McIntyre searching in DC for - Devine/Divine, Smith, Alexander, Spiess, Dreaka and related families

    1. Re: [WashingtonDC'' ] Map
    2. I copied a map from a microfilm at the National Archives that supposingly gave the Enumeration Districts. However when I went to look at the 1930 DC census the Enumeration District map that was on the microfilm had no correlation to the actual Enumeration Districts on the census. There is a microfilm that correlates addresses with Enumeration Districts. If you have a pretty good idea where the person lived you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them. Jack
