Wondered if there may be a mdg/ record in the area for on Thomas (?) Kingston and Susanna Hoskins (Haskins or Hodgkins). I think my 3rd grt gran may have remarried (the 3rd time) about 1815 or later. And she may have resided in Alexandria, Va. thanks sue
If someone has access to city directories in D.C. for any point in the 1920s, would you please look-up: William Johanne LA VARRE Jr. who worked for the Smithsonian and was a writer Other names: Lucil'e (Lucie/Lucille) LA VARRE (sister) Lelia Goddin HAYNES LA VARRE (mother) William Johanne LA VARRE Sr. (father) Claude Andrews LA VARRE (brother) We couldn't find them in the 1920 census but I have seen several references to them being 'from Washington' by about 1923. THANKS! Christina Auch theauchs@earthlink.net
I am seeking information on Robert Parker Parrott, born 26 June 1876 in Furnaceville, New York and died in August 1944 in Washington, D.C. He married Louise Soenneken in 1909. As far as I know they had no children. He attained the rank of Colonel in a branch of the armed forces, but I am not sure in which one he served. He later worked for General Electric. I am trying to locate a date of death and burial place. Thank you. Sandy Daltrey hotspurs@gwtc.net

My very bare threads for Washington D.C. a portrait of my great-grandmother with a handwritten annotation identifying her in Washington D.C. in her seventies (between 1940-50?) and another notation in family records identifying my great-aunt as "from Washington" in the 1920s. They are respectively Lelia Goddin Haynes LA VARRE and Lucille LA VARRE, later m. ROBBINS. Apparently, my great-grandfather William Johanne LA VARRE Sr. worked as a naval architect but as a civilian. Their first son was born in 1898 in NY. A portrait of g-gfather places him at Bremerton (Wash. State) in 1899 at Puget Sound. That 'fact' could be flawed though. Their youngest son was born in 1911 in Staten Island, NY. Apparently, when my grandfather (the youngest) went to college in the early 30s, g-gfather left to sow whatever wild oats remained. I'm told he died in the mid-1950s. Christina Auch theauchs@earthlink.net
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Vernon Eskridge WEST taken at the Anthony Studio in Washington D.C. In addition to his name it is noted that he was 9 months old at the time the photograph was taken, maybe in the 1880's. I am hoping to find someone from Vernon's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Hello List, May I try and thank the whole of the Washington DC. List, for their great response to my lookup request on the BLETHYN Family name. I have got to say that the number of replies that I received, completely took me by suprise and left me overjoyed in many ways, one being the cousin effect of our two countries coming into my mind. Just incase I have failed to thank all concerned individually, please excuse me, and take this as one big thankyou to all. Of course my offer of any help to you all, in all such matters Historical over here in Wales GB. applies to all future times. Perhaps after I digest all the info optained and added to my file, I may be allowed to further indulge on the lists generosity, and ask advice on further advancement. Even though we live in this great electronic age, that bit of water still seems a big barrier to my finding out more. Best Regards Allen Blethyn in Aberavon Wales. UK.
None that I know of but thanks for the extras :-) Jack was born in Iowa where his family remained. He moved to DC on his own and the SSDI says he died there. Still looking for Jack R. Condon (the "R" could stand for Roger or his mother's maiden name Rogers). I'm looking for information about Sarah Turner who married James Jones on 6/24/1865 in Washington, DC. So is anyone researching Turners in DC? Thanks, Debi
Hello Everyone. Once again, I am asking everybody on the list that is looking for relatives in DC to help transcribe the DC Census. The Census project is trying to get the census online so they will be free. We have only one transcriber for DC. All years are open. If you don't want to transcribe DC there are plenty of other states that are open and years. The census project web page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~census. Thank you, Jan Carter - State Coordinator of the Census project for Maryland and DC
Hello List, Would any list member who is signed up with Ancestry.Com. Consider doing a lookup for me on the surname BLETHYN. Results will show something on my G.Grandfather Benjamin in Washington DC. Also his cousin Evan in Ohio. As usual I have available to all list members extensive research material for all South Wales UK. Lookups. Nothing will be of any bother to me. I welcome requests from my cousins in the USA. Best Regards Allen Blethyn in Aberavon S.Wales. UK.
Did you by any chance include the final ) - after census? The first time I tried, I did and could not reach the web site. Leave it off (or substitute a /) and try again. http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/census Barbara

Hi, I have just come across the name STUDT and SHEEHY in my genealogy. Just wandered if anyone else was searching for these people. In my time frame (early 1900s), they lived in Georgetown. Haven't anything on them yet. Eileen
"Hi All: Well I guess I've been fortunate but haven't had a problem. I know the listowners (like me) have been getting alot of spam but that goes to WashingtonDC-l-request...etc. I haven't been posting much (like olden days) and I apologize. I've been a little out of the loop with genealogy. NOw I have this sniper in my neighborhood (Kensington, MD) so I've been inside a little more than usual. Don't unsubscribe! Let's start posting on this list again. I'll get my stuff together & post my Jones, etc line in the next e-mail. Debi
