Looking for burial place of Rosa L Whaley died Sept or October 1925. Don't believe she ever married and found in 1920 census as such. She had a brother Walter Whaley. They were children of James M Whaley and Virginia Mary Pritchartt. They were born just before the civil war. I have checked Fairfax County Cemetery Volumes and vound nothing. Would appreciate if someone with Alexandria Va Cemetery books look up name Whaley that matches any of above names. Thank you Anne

Hello Joe, Thanks for your help in looking into this matter. Indeed this Cathell is a descendent of James Cathell of the Eastern Shore through his son, Jonathan (and two more Jonathans in sequence as well!). I have a copy of Ralph W. Cathell's book, and I'm pretty sure I've heard something about the other author you mentioned. Arthur P. Connelly's "All Five of his Sons..." is probably an attempt to correct some of the erroneous information originally published as newspaper article under the first part of that title. This involves the second Jonathan Cathell along with his brothers and cousins. There WERE five of them shown in the Revolutionary War records. I'd be glad to exchange information with your cousin, although I fear that what I have is very little and quite remote from his branch of the family. Hate to tell you Susan... but I do not see Jonathan Dennis Cathell listed as the author of any work on the LoC's online catalog... the only Cathells i see are William T. and Ralph W. as authors... Checked their books and none were the one you are seeking... I can ask my Livingston 5'th cousin Robert Reid 'bob' Shriver of Devon, PA if he knows anything about the book.. he descends from the aforementioned Uriah Fooks causey (grandson of Sarah Cathell)...and bob has done extensive research on many of his ancestral famileis.. Sorry he has no email.. have to do it by telephone tonight.. Joe [email protected]

My g-grandmother's brother, Jonathan Dennis CATHELL, wrote his autobiography, "A Synopsis of the Long, Earnest, and Busy Life of Jonathan Dennis Cathell" when he was 84. He was born in 1817 in Delaware and moved to Washington in about 1842. He was captain of the schooner Statesman on the New York, Alexandria, Washington, and Georgetown line in 1853. He was later a superintendant of the Washington Gas Light Company for many years. He lived in the same house in Georgetown from before 1860 until his death in the early 1900s. At least a copy of the autobiography was probably in the hands of his grandson, Arthur P. Connelly, and information from it is quoted in "Records of the Cathell Family" compiled by Ralph W. Cathell and published in 1972. Would anyone be familiar with Capt. Cathell or his autobiography? Is there some way to see if it was indeed published? I would love to have the chance to read it, particularly anything it may have to say about his father, who would be my g-g-grandfather. The bible never came back. In a sister's obituary Georgiana was said to be living in DC in 1952 and I believe she died 18 Aug 1954, perhaps in DC or that area. Would you be willing to do some obit research around that date for me. I know she had previously lived both in DC and in Alexandria, VA so the DC location may be just the best the obit sources knew. She might have been living with a daugher, Elizabeth Callier. She was a sister to my Fathers mother, Addie Mae Pennington and married a fellow named Polk Pennington who died after 1920. Best I can tell they were not closely related but it sure confuses everybody. Thanks, Bill Nash --=__Part5C7F5298.0__=--
Hi List: I received the following request from Andrea Hsu of National Public Radio. If anyone responds, please let me know also as she got my name from the memories site. Thanks Debi Thanks so much Debi for your response! Yes, I would love if you could send out a message! What we're looking for are simply people who can talk about their memories of Griffith Stadium -- going to games, any special events, memorable moments, that sort of thing. And if anyone attended the last Senators game on Sept 21 1961 -- would be wonderful to hear about that too! I think there were only about 1500 people in attendance, so could be hard to find anyone around who remembers! People can contact me by phone (202) 513 2101 or email at any time. Many many thanks! Best, Andrea [email protected]
I have some cousins I am trying to trace. My great grandmother, Rosalia Huddleson nee Walthers (1861 Washington, DC 1919 Washington, DC) sister, Clara Virginia Sonnemann nee Walther (1860 Washington, DC 1939 Washington, DC) and her husband, Ottmar H. Sonnemann (1859 MD 1939 DC) had a son named Charles Earl Sonnemann (Jun 1885 Washington, DC - ?) who married Edna unknown (presumably sometime before 1909 when the census shows their first child was born). I dont know when or where they were married. Perhaps DC? If some kind soul (SKS) has any information please do contact me. I have found Charles Earl Sonnemann with his family in Baltimore in the 1920 census. By the 1930 census Charles Earl Sonnemann has moved to Florida with his wife. I am trying to find their daughters. As one can see they are in the 1920 Baltimore census but not in the 1930 Florida census. Perhaps they married in Baltimore? Where can Baltimore marriages be looked up? Might there have been an announcement in the newspaper? Hi - Thanks for your searching. Appreciate. Margie
There is a Mary Soper, age 2 months, in the 1850 census for Berrys, Montgomery County, MD. She is the daughter of James P. and Amelia Soper. There is also a Mary Soper, age 2 yrs, in the 1850 census for Baltimore, MD, District 1. She is the daughter of Charles and Nancy Soper. I so no other Mary Sopers born in Maryland in the 1850 census that fit your rough age category.
