I got several wills last week at the National Archives. Yes, the National Archives. There is some sort of jurisdictional dispute over the index so unless you have the numbers you have to go there first. They will not copy the index and send it over from the DC Gov. They are there up until about 1870? If you have the number you fill out the request and it will be brought to you in the reading room. I do not know about ordering one by mail. however you can hire someone who does research at the National Archives to get if for you. I did learn the O. S. stands for old series. I have used Marie Malchori CGRS in the past but wanted to make the trip myself. Margaret

I would like to obtain a copy of the will of Satterlee Clark who died Mar 1, 1848 in Washington D.C. I have the following information: will dated 2-14-1848, probated 3-27-1849: Book 6, pp.230-231; O.S. 2924; Box20. Can anyone tell me where I should write to get copies of the will and probate proceedings? Thanks for your help. Sharon Stanfield
Susan in Missouri Stones and Bones was originally published in book form by the Prince George's County Genealogical Society. From the information I read in the book and subsequently on the CD version which I own, they began with information from a survey conducted by the Toaping Castle branch of the DAR. Members of the PG Co Gen Society then volunteered to "walk" the various cemeteries and do a stone by stone recording of them (although many of the stones originally recorded had been destroyed since the DAR survey.) Many people also checked the church registers for information on burials that might not be marked by a stone. The Gen Society published the information in book form and later published an addendum with corrections and additions. The cd which is currently available contains both the original Stones and Bones and the addendum. It records church cemeteries and private (family-type) cemeteries located in Prince George's County. It does not list interments in the "commercial" cemeteries, such as Fort Lincoln, etc. I have seen the original book in libraries in PG County, and it's probably in other places too. The CD can be purchased from the Prince George's Genealogical Society. Here's their e-mail address: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdpgcgs/ According to the web site the CD is available for sale for $36.00 for non-members. The address and phone number and an e-mail address are shown in the contact us link on the web site. Barbara
Yes the local library in Laurel, Prince Georges Maryland has both the book and the addendum. But as I said there are a lot of graves not listed. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 07, 2005 12:13 PM Subject: [WashingtonDC'' ] About Stones and Bones > Susan in Missouri > > Stones and Bones was originally published in book form by the Prince > George's County Genealogical Society. They listed the race and the last line on the left most but not all had a number and that is the age at death. So since the children were young 2 or 3 you could narrow it down more. Than along with the country, which is also listed, where they lived. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ccraven" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 9:09 PM Subject: Re: [WashingtonDC'' ] Re: Burial Kelly, Theresa (or Thersa) and John Robert > Margaret, I'm checking Maryland online line now, gosh there are so many > Kelly's, wish there was someone still alive that knew or at least what > area. I checked the Gasch's Funeral Home book and the Washington Post archives search engine and came up empty as well. Chuck
Barbara, Was wondering could a person be buried there and maybe not on the list since they were under four and I'm assuming their parents didn't have alot of money maybe no head stone or marker? I guess I'm just hope full I'll be able to locate them I know it would mean alot to my mother. Thank you so much for checking for me and I will call some other cemeteries. Again Thanks for your help Cecile cecile/sis

Chuck, I don't know if you received my other e-mail thanking you for checking the funeral home, thats one I won't have to check. You've been very kind. Cecile cecile/sis
Margaret, I'm checking Maryland online line now, gosh there are so many Kelly's, wish there was someone still alive that knew or at least what area. I do thank you very much for taking the time. Cecile cecile/sis

It was worth a try. My mother and father both buried in Ivy Hill in Laurel are not in the book altho some people buried after are. I don't know how the writer listed the people and from what source. It covers late 1800's to at least some in 2000 or 2001. The book and the addenum that is. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 2:53 PM Subject: [WashingtonDC'' ] Re: Burial Kelly, Theresa (or Thersa) and John Robert >I checked my Stones and Bones CD and found no mention of either of the >Kelly > children. > > If anyone needs any lookups on this CD just let me know. > > Barbara > > > ============================== > Jumpstart your genealogy with OneWorldTree. Mt Olivet might be a good bet. It's in DC, not far from Bladensburg, MD, and as was mentioned is a Catholic Cemetery. Several of my deceased ancestors are buried there.
I checked my Stones and Bones CD and found no mention of either of the Kelly children. If anyone needs any lookups on this CD just let me know. Barbara
Barbara, Specifically, what is covered by the "Stones and Bones" CD (time frame and geographic area, etc.), and is it possible to obtain a copy, and if so, who is selling it? Thank you so much. Cecile cecile/sis
