    3. Thankyou Michael, was wondering what she was doing out at 9:30 at night since she had 4 children, and what was the Canal road like where she lived, I have almost given up until my cousin started emailing me again. All you people have been wonderful helping me. I do know that after the funeral probably a couple of years her husband put the children in an Episcopal home run by Rev. Davenport & I haven't been able to find anything on her husband. I'd think they'd be in the Census. Thank you. Cecile cecile/sis

    3. How hard would it be to find the accident report that happened July 6, 1906, it involved the Cabin John R.R.,Hayes Crossing. near District of Columbia. There was an article in the Washington post and I have received her Certificate of Death I thought maybe if I could get the accident report maybe it would give me more information on her family. Thank you for any help. Great Granddaughter Cecile cecile/sis

    3. Many libraries can only afford the census and the books. My library had big budget cuts-we're lucky we still have those two sources. They told me they were not even thinking of adding the historical newspapers even before the cuts. Some one mentioned earlier the heritage quest-old- site. Indeed, they used to have one where you could buy disks etc., I bought some of the 1870 indexes about 4 or 5 years ago there. About 3 or 4 years ago they sold out to genealogy.com. About that time they took down their old site and now they only service libraries. Godfrey is still your best bet. The price is great and now that they have added the National Intelligencer and the Alexandria Gazette they are my heroes:-). 3. Hello, I have just received my long lost Grandfathers death cert. from Washington and to my surprise have found he had a widow. The marriage must have happened some time between 1929 when he was given a Civil Service Comm. from the regular US Army and his death in 1946. He was James Henry Wright and was working in the Ordinance Dept of the US Gov. at the time of his death. According to an obit in the Washington Post, July 6th 1967 his widow Maude E Wright (formerly Bowen) nee McKelvey was a Past President of the National Capitol Aux. No 127 V.F.W. I am interested to know what this was. Any advice on how to search for this marriage would be greatly appreciated as my research is limited to the internet from so far away. Thankyou, Barbara Victoria Australia.

    2. Margaret - Thank you for the information! I will check with my local library. I never know with the small libraries around here. Plus, if we aren't paying taxes to that particular library, then you have to pay a yearly fee to the others. But, I will check it out. Thanks!! If you get a library card from a library around you, that has "Heritage Quest", you can usually get it online at home, for free. Otherwise, it is like all of the other genealogy sites, you will have to pay for it to receive it. It is certainly worth checking out your library to see what they offer. If the library in your town does not have these perks, check the surrounding towns. That's what I did. I live in Dayton but my daughter lives in Columbus, and I got mine there. I just had to be a Ohio resident. Good Luck, Margaret in Ohio
