    3. From "Guide to the Research of Your District of Columbia Ancestors" by Eleanor M. V. Cook: "St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church had a church built in 1821 at the corner of Second and C Streets, S.E., which was torn down in 1889 and replaced with a marble church on the same site. If you will write, giving names and approximate dates, someone at the church will research the records for the information you want. St. Peter's Catholic Church, 313 Second Street, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20003." Each of the descriptions of other Catholic churches mentioned say the same thing....write to the church and someone will research for you. Unfortunately, St. Dominic's is not included in the list. The only mention of St. Dominic's in the entire book is under the information on Mount Olivet Cemetery: "Mount Olivet Cemetery, on Bladensburg Road, N.E., was established in 1858 by the four Catholic parishes of St. Patrick's, St. Peter's, St. Matthew's and St. Dominic's. For information concerning burials at Mount Olivet, it is preferred that you put your inquiries in writing, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1300 Bladensburg Road, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002. The telephone number is 399-3000." Sue Dotson [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Frank J. 3. Frank: In my experience churches and cemeteries respond better if you contact them either by phone or mail not by email. So you might want to try and call the churches. Additionally, I would come right out and ask if there is a fee to do research. What kind of information are you expecting to find in the church records? You didn't mention the timeframe and I don't know exactly what kind of information the church would have other than baptism, death, etc. What information did you get from Mt. Olivet? Sometimes cemetery records are pretty good, listing next of kin, last residence. Good luck. 3. I, for one, would like to get the information from the burial record of my supposed g-grandfather, Charles F. Robinson, who was buried in Glenwood Cemetery by John William Lee on Feb. 5, 1912. There is a lot of "circumstantial evidence" that says he's the right one, but no one thing that I can point to that proves it. I'm hoping to find his wife's name in order to confirm his identity. She would probably be the family member who was making the arrangements. There was a news notice in the paper about the death, which named no relatives. Apparently there was no formal obituary. Possibly the burial records might make mention of whatever church may have performed the funeral or graveside services.
