It's $29 if you don't have the number. That application gives birth information, including parents' information and his birthplace. There is a form you can access for this purpose on line. You go to the Rootsweb SSDI site at http://www.ssdi//genealogy.rootsweb.com/ Look your guy up, then go to the SS-5 letter after his name. That's the form. You could write your own letter using that form if you prefer. For census, I have a subscription to the Godfrey Memorial Library in CT. They have the whole census from Heritage Quest on line, plus a lot of other resources. They specialize in, but are not limited to, New England. It costs $35 a year for their subscription that gives unlimited access to all the census images. Very helpful. They are at http://www.godfrey.com/ They are good to deal with as well.
