USIGS Charter Memberships are Closing on 27 September 1997! The United States Internet Genealogy Society, organized in June, has received its incorporation papers and is now preparing to close its CHARTER MEMBERSHIP. Federal IRS Non Profit Status Pending. Charter members are those who have signed up before the first Board Meeting (set for 28 September 1997) and who have made an initial donation to the organization. (Suggested minimum, $20.00) There are no dues and a free membership is available to anyone that completes a membership application. The Objectives of USIGS are to encourage, promote and raise funds as necessary to provide free online access to genealogical and historical data.
