Dear friends, I'm new to this list, so please allow me a few minutes to introduce myself and ask a favor. Born in Spokane, I'm a Washingtonian currently living on Oregon Coast. My research includes: Paternal grandfather, Louis RITTER 1870-1935, who immigrated from Germany in 1896 and ranched in Republic, Ferry Co. My father, Edwin Ambrose RITTER was b. 14 Jul 1900, shortly before Louis m. Josephine Lena MEIER 1881-1941. They had one other boy, Earl A., who was a very black sheep, indeed. Lena's parents were Jacob Peter MEIER 1826-1903 who farmed in Wapello Co., Iowa and m. Mary Cecilia VANDER HUY(or HEIU?) in 1873. Besides Lena, they had the following children: John, 1874-1887, who didn't marry; Martha M. 1876-1947 m. Joseph A. TIEFENTHALER (of Aberdeen); Hannah Elizabeth 1878-1948 m. Fredrick LEVY; Leo or Geroge J. 1884-1928; Philomena Augusta 1888-1914 m. John Francis COLLINGS; Elizabeth Agnes 1891-1985 m. Frank RYDEEN, and 1 other; Daisy M. (adopted) 1892-1983 m. Robt LOWTHER; and Mary Elizabeth 1894-1980 m. Rollo Caryle WISENER, and 2 others. All were born in Wapello Co., Iowa. The family moved to Spokane just before 1900. It is of the last child, Mary, that I'm inquiring about today. She was married to a Welshman by the name of Eddie WARREN when she died. She worked for many years for the telephone company and always lived in Seattle as I recall. I adored Mary -- she was fun, laughed a lot and knew how to have enjoy life. Sad to say, my parents lived in Oregon and we didn't get to see each other often, and I've spent years living out of the Pacific NW, so know very little about Mary's life. It's my hope you will be able to tell me the best way to locate Mary's obituary. I don't have the day of her death, but it was Dec 1980. Could you tell me where Seattle obits and death notices for 1980 are archived and the best way to obtain? I would be absolutely delighted to connect with anyone else who is following any of the lines listed here.
