    1. [WASHINGTON-L] Civil War Veteran's Rolls question

    3. I've been looking for information on my gr-gr-gr grandfather Thomas Martin Van Buren DAWSON who moved his family from Iowa to Whatcom County, WA. The family arrived in Bellingham ca. 1888 or 1889 (I could not find them in the 1889 Washington Territorial Census for Whatcom County), and he was listed in the 1891 city directory as "T.M. DAWSON" a mason with no address listed. His wife was listed as living at a restaurant on C Street. My gr-gr-gr grandparents had a son named William W. DAWSON in Dec 1860 and a daughter in Nov 1866. I don't know if they had any children between those two, if they did they probably had one who died before 1880 when I found them in the Jones County, IA Census. The gap of 6 years between the first two children, though, makes me wonder if Thomas may have served in the Civil War. If he had served in the C.W., it would have been with a regiment from Iowa. Would be be listed in the Veteran's Rolls of 1890 for Whatcom County, WA? Is there one available on microfilm? Thank you! Brenda Hbert
