Brenda, Where do you live? Did you go to the State Archives in Bellingham? I'm researching my Everett and Friend surnames and both families were in Bellingham early. My Friends came from West Virginia in about 1903. My Dad and I went to the State Archives a year or two ago and it was great! They had old maps that showed homeowners names, tons of old, old books, city directories and it seems like there was a box that had either birth or death records. The room we went in was secured. They locked up things like purses and briefcases although they let you have paper and pens or whatever and you have to buzz someone when you want out. There were also old books with indexes to land records. I've been wanting to get up to the museum and the Whatcom Co courthouse but like you have a difficult time getting away from the kids. I live in Seattle and have been trying to figure out how I can get even a day in Bellingham to research. Cheryl
