I have a letter dated Nov. 1892 from a polatician who's signature looks like W.R. Gay. Anyway, he says in the letter"...there has been a great many changes. The reserve is nearly cleared off and we show up on the bay to strangers as quite a city, though a city of shanties." What could he mean? Is he referring to an Indian reserve? The letter is written to a relative of mine and most of the letter is about business and renting his land. Thanx, Brigitte
