    3. Hello, I joined the Snohomish County List a few years ago and posted queries, but I seem to have not joined this List at the same time. So, I would like to post now my query about two KERR brothers who left Everett, MA, between 1900 and 1910 to move to Everett, WA ! The 1900 Census has Robert KERR, 37?, and his wife, Marguerite "Maggie" ______, living in Everett, MA. I cannot find Joseph KERR, 32, and his wife, Sarah "Sadie" _____ in MA. The 1910 Census has both couples living in Everett, WA, and they are living in the same home. The 1920 Census has both couples living in Everett, WA, and they are living in the same home. I do not have access to the 1930 Census, and I do not know when they died. In 1920, they were in their 50's. Neither couple ever had children ! And, I believe they worked in the Lumber industry ! I was wondering if there was a way to find out when the brothers died ! And, if I could find out when they died, would I be able to write a letter to the Everett Library and request an obituary for them ? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: A little background information is: Brothers, Robert and Joseph KERR, were born in the 1860's in Quebec Province, Canada. They were the youngest of 5 children of Robert and Elizabeth (HENDERSON) KERR of Argenteuil County, Quebec. Around 1870, the family moved to Compton County, Quebec. Around 1874, the oldest son, William KERR, moved to Boston, MA. In 1876, he married Elizabeth HANNAH in Malden, MA, and they raised children in Everett, MA. In 1879, William's sister, Mary Anna KERR, came down to live with them. A few years later, Mary KERR married William McINNES. There was another sister, Hannah Jane KERR, but I can't find her as an adult. She either died young, or she married in Quebec Province and remained living there. In 1886, Robert and Joseph KERR came down to Boston, MA. There is a good chance that the parents, William and Elizabeth KERR, came down with them, as they died in Everett, MA, in 1902 and 1904. As for the wives of Robert and Joseph, the Census information shows they were born in Canada/English and immigrated in 1873, and their parents had been born in Scotland. So, I'm thinking that Marguerite and Sarah were sisters and possibly "under 10" when their family left Nova Scotia and came down to MA. I believe the couples married in or near Everett, MA, in 1888 and 1890.

    3. Betty, The 1930 census has Robert Kerr living at 3330 Wetmore in Everett. He is 66 and is a widower. He has a house keeper by the name of Armintie (or could be Urmintie) Hughes. She is a widow and is 58 years. I could find nothing in Ancestry re. Joseph after the 1920 census. Shirley aumbre@earthlink.net
