Can anyone explain to me how and where vital statistics are kept. I would like to know if there are restrictions on accessibility to these records for privacy. I have four possible relatives who died between 1974 and and 1996. I suspect that these records would be considered private. Also can anyone advise me concerning the major newspapers in Washington. I would like to write them concerning obituaries.
