To Bev and others, There is a book often found in your public library called: The value of a dollar : prices and incomes in the United States... by Derks, Scott. This will give a rough estimate to convert to today's money. But I agree with Susan's husband, it depends. Another book to look for is : Almanacs of American Life: Modern America 1914-1945 by Ross Gregory, which will also help.
