Back about 1943-1946, when I was a baby in a crib, and my father was a young, gung-ho Army officer, he came home one day to discover a lumberjack in bed with my mother! That's what I've been told, folks! Well, it seems this lumberjack proceeded to jump my dad with a knife, a fight ensued, and dad killed the lumberjack in "defense of home and hearth, etc.". He was subsequently acquitted of the murder. I was told years ago that there was a local trial, community members took sides, there were newspaper stories that closely followed the trial, etc. So, if anybody can prove, or disprove any of this story for me, please do! Thanks, Karen >> Karen, You may want to get ahold of his service records in St. Louis. There is a chance that the Army would have records about the trial and any time off or temporary leave of absence that your dad might have had to take. That info might give you a better idea of the time of trial. You should also be able to contact the Spokane courts and have them lookup the trial info. They were very helpful with me over the phone, looked up records and told me how much I needed to send to have complete files copied, etc. Thanks, Cheryl Hawley ============================================== http://www.webbergroup.com http://www.echoesarchive.com http://www.chrislist.com Senior GIS Technician Microsoft NT LAN Administrator Webmaster, Snohomish Pilchuck Cemetery Project Webmaster, Mantrackers & Search Dogs, Inc.
