Hello, The transcription of the complete 1850 federal census of what is now Washington is finished and online. There were two counties in existence that year, Lewis, and Clark, together they covered all parts of the future state then settled. The transcriptions of the census returns are in two separate files, by county, and can be found at the Washington Census Project at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/wacensus.htm or through the Washington section of the US GenWeb Archives at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/wafiles.htm These transcriptions are complete in every way, with no columns or data of any kind omitted. Great care has been taken to ensure accuracy, so as to best serve the needs of the researcher. Search engine capability is being readied at this time for use with these files. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this project. Thank you, Kevin Fraley (swimref@cmc.net) NOTE NEW ADDRESS Coordinator, Washington Census Project Assistant National Coordinator, US GenWeb Census Project Washington Manager, US GenWeb Archives
