Well if it is the way you think I fell sorry for > you. You have taken the wrong impression on what I said. EVERY local, city, state and Federal agency bars people from serving in law enforcement after having a felony conviction. You CAN NOT get a job, period. It is not something that I have a say one way or another, it is law. It is also against rootsweb policy to make a personal attack on a person, especially if you're wrong. If he did have such a record and was so impressive that they were able to make special allowances for him, so much he better for him...

I have a number of questions for information that you didn't have in your posting that should aid in research. First, is there anyone available in your family that can fill in the blanks as far as information? Or correct information? Is Arline (Arlene) your mothers or fathers mother? Are they available to answer questions? Do they have any siblings that can answer? Any Grand Aunts or Uncles still alive? Do you have her obituary? Do you have their death certificates? Second, where did they live in Washington? (Washington State). 1. Arline (Arlene) Francis. "till she married" Do you know her married name? If not, what was your mother maiden name or fathers last name? Your grandmother would have been only 42 at death. Born in 1935, she would have been too young to be listed in the US Census of 1930. Do you know where she died? Where she was born? Try to get her obituary. 2. Frances Orr. Frances died in 1991, did you know her at all? Where did she live? Where did she die? I did searches in the census for Frances and Laura, without success. In the Social Security Death Index, I found a Joseph Orr, born 16 Feb 1904, Died Apr 1982 in Yakima, WA In the Washington Death Index, I found a Laura Armstrong, died in Yakima on 5 July 1988 at age 87, she resided in Selah. If you can ask immediate family for help, then expand out.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CCC.2ACE/2999.1 Message Board Post: > ...I am looking for Calvin or clarence Williams if you know > him please contact me he was in the army and should be > in his early mid 40's Just based on the name, Army and in Mid 40's...that is not enough information to even begin. No one could look for such a name in Washington without more info. Now, are you looking for him in Washington State or Washington D.C? Quite a few make this mistake, this is the site for Washington State. First, basic information searches for you to do: 1. Do you have contact with your mother? Can she give you information? If not, does she have any brothers, sisters, or other family that you can ask for information? Is there anyone that you know that may know your mother and father? 2. Do you have your birth certificate? What does it say? What was his EXACT name on the certificate? Does it say that your father was born in WA? And what was the age of your father on your birth certificate? What was your mothers name on the birth certificate? (There is always a chance the fathers name was ficticious, made up by your mother at the time of birth). 3. What month, year and place were YOU born. That will tell us if you were born in Washington or another state. 4. Are you living in the same area that you were born? If so, visit the local newspaper and look for birth announcements just after your birth. You may not find any at all. Can I assume you had very little contact, if any, with him? Tell us WHY you think his name was Calvin or Clarence Williams. What else do you know about your mother and father? For example, if you KNOW your mother lived in Seattle, but you were born in Spokane, that may have an impact on later information. Do you know of any older brothers or sisters that were children of your father?
